Pop duo Jedward are hotly tipped to go to Eurovision again this year after all five Eurosong Ireland entries were broadcast for the first time yesterday.
The twins are the bookies’ 4/11 favourites to win Eurosong and represent Ireland for the second year in a row at Eurovision with their song, Waterline.
“We listened to all five songs and we think Jedward has the only chance of going all the way in Eurovision,’’ said Sharon McHugh of Paddy Power yesterday.
“We think the twins will go sailing through.”
Former Eurovision flop, Donna McCaul is 11/4 second favourite in the fray with her upbeat pop number, Mercy.
Donna and her brother Joseph McCaul represented Ireland in Kiev in 2005 but failed to qualify for the song contest final.
“We thought Donna McCaul’s song was catchy enough so we’ve made that second favourite,’’ said Ms McHugh.
Rocker Andrew Mann is third favourite at 8/1 with his song Here I Am.
However, singer Maria McCool is a 20/1 outsider with her song Mistaken. She shares the same odds with David Shannon and Una Gibney who are performing the duet, The Language of Love.
“We just didn’t think those songs stood out,’’ said the Paddy Power spokesperson.
The winner of Eurosong, which takes place on The Late Late Show on February 24, will head for the Eurovision song contest in Baku in Azerbaijan in May.
Jedward came eighth in the Eurovision which was held in Germany last year.
The two managed to storm through the semi-finals and into the top ten in the contest with their song, Lipstick.
The twins attracted a whopping peak of 1.5 million viewers to RTE when they battled it out in the Eurovision last May.
